Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay is a Californian born in Long beach on 24 August 1972. DuVernay was introduced to the arts from her grandmother Denise. Aunt Denise worked the night shift as nurse to ensure she could follow her passion for art literature and theater during the day. The aunt introduced DuVernay the 1961 film West Side Story and DuVernay fell in love with it. DuVernay saw how art was an effective tool for promoting social activism. Similar to DuVernay's mom, she was conscious of her social status and influenced her to say something through art. Although DuVernay grew up living in Compton with her parents, she was a summer resident in Lowndes County Alabama where her father's family grew up for generations. The father of DuVernay's reminiscences recalled the historic civil rights march through the Edmund Pettus Bridge in the nearby city of Selma Alabama. DuVernay was influenced by her summers in Selma, and later directed a documentary about King's father, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In 1990 DuVernay completed her studies at Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. DuVernay enrolled at the University of California Los Angeles after graduating, where she earned qualifications in English and African American Studies. As a student DuVernay became interested in producing for television journalism. She started as an intern with CBS News, during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was assigned to the monitor and investigate the residence of a particular Jury member. The work she was assigned to did not leave her satisfied by journalism and she decided to move towards the field of publicity. DuVernay got a job right after college as a new publicist at a studio. In 1999, she launched her own business of public relations called The DuVernay Agency. Apart from PR, the agency also launched several marketing and lifestyle platforms, such as The Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective, Urban Eye and HelloBeautiful. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Her zodiac sign is.
